Welcome to Inukrock
Inukrock was born out of a simple idea: to make rock climbing accessible in Inukjuak. It all started in September 2019, when Audrey Hachey, a social worker and rock-climbing instructor, began bringing equipment to the community to breathe life into the unused indoor climbing wall at the local community center. Over time, a small group of youth was introduced to outdoor climbing, and the natural leadership of four of these young climbers spurred the creation of Inukrock in 2022. Their determination, coupled with the community's growing interest, allowed Inukrock to fully develop The Lagoon Cliff, an outdoor climbing site, with the support of Inukjuak Nothern Village.
Inukrock’s growth has been gradual and deeply intertwined with the rhythm, needs, and aspirations of the community. Today, we are committed to promoting rock climbing across Nunavik, empowering Inuit youth, and fostering a supportive and inclusive climbing community.

We build authentic and transparent relationships with all our partners and participants, laying the foundation for mutual respect and achieving shared goals.
Our Current Project
Our current project is focused on expanding climbing opportunities throughout Nunavik, including the development of climbing spaces, workshops, and community events. In the summer of 2024, we extended our activities to Ivujivik, working to develop a local climbing community and help secure a traditional egg-harvesting site. Meanwhile, in Inukjuak, we continue to explore new climbing sites and provide training and certifications through the Fédération québécoise de la montagne et de l'escalade (FQME) to empower young leaders as skilled climbers and community leaders.

Our Involvement in the communities
At Inukrock, we are deeply committed to working actively and collaboratively with local leaders to ensure that our projects align with the genuine needs of the community. We believe that the success of our initiatives depends on listening to and understanding the priorities of the communities we serve. Our programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all, removing barriers so that everyone can participate regardless of resources. By promoting climbing as a tool for mental well-being, self-confidence, and personal growth, we aim to foster a positive and lasting impact in the lives of Inuit youth.
